When you're weary, feeling small...

When tears are in your eyes, I'll dry them all (all)
I'm on your side, oh, when times get rough
And friends just can't be found
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
1970.  It was the best of times.  Obviously, from the lyrics, for someone it was the worst of times.  It's a song about helping a person in need.  Sometimes that person is us.  Sometimes it's a friend or a loved one.
When you're down and out
When you're on the street
When evening falls so hard
I will comfort you (ooo)
I'll take your part, oh, when darkness comes
And pain is all around
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Paul Simon wrote the song, but insisted Art Garfunkel perform it.  When asked, years later, why he didn't sing too.. he admitted, "ya know, I wish I would have!"
Who/what/how puts the YUM in your yumME?  This could be about God.  It could be a tale for our bestest friend.  It could be simply, a self help thing.
Sail on silver girl
Sail on by
Your time has come to shine
All your dreams are on their way
See how they shine
Oh, if you need a friend
I'm sailing right behind
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind

Due to the era, many thought the 'Silver Girl' was about a needle, or herion.  Simon laughed at the thought - and admitted "no, it was in inside joke about my first wife. Right as she turned 30 she started getting Silver-grey hairs - started flipping out, so, I called her Silver Girl."

Similes...  An arm around.  A hand clasped.  A dog pet.  A cat a rubbin' agin'ya.  The bright, vibrant eyes of a child anxiously awaiting your answer to a question of life they'd just asked.

Tears, and they eventually dry up.  Times past, brought to the surface invoking smile.  A chance meeting with a lifelong friend on 'the other side', who you've since waged 'war' in 73 comment posts about DT, Nancy, Money, Trade, Global warming, yada - AND, that chance meeting reminds you of the glue between you - and again, a smile is invoked.

Smiles.  The best.  Chocolate.  What can't chocolate solve?  Dinner at your favorite joint.  You, the remote, no one else for a nice, calm, channel selfish evening.  You, your buddy, nestled up, chillaxin', catching up on Netflix until the wee hour.

A photo album.  An old yearbook.  A phone call - to, or from.  A simple "I love  you" text to simply remind someone you love them.

A genuine compliment..

Ya know, a beer with a buddy ain't a bad thing either.

Stolen:

“You have to take the good with the bad, smile with the sad. love what you got, and remember what you had. Always forgive, but never forget, learn from your mistakes but never regret. People change, things go wrong, but just remember life goes on.”

The stepping stones mark the way.  The long trudge uphill lends one a hella fun bike ride down it.  Good follows bad.  Love wipes out hate.

Garfunkel was quoted recently:  “Well, here we are, years later, I’m still singing it from town to town, and it’s completely alive and fresh to me,” he said. “There is nothing dated, or any feeling of the past. I love doing it. Thank the Lord the feeling — the goose bumps — constantly checks in every time I do it.”

Goose bumps.  Ya gotta love goose bumps.

Down, struggle, depressed, upset, mad, I-give-up, tomorrow - I'll do that tomorrow.

All of the above, just a small piece of the wonderful, diverse, pie of life.

Peace out, so to speak.

Love, Victurd
